Your Stars 4 July 2010
Posted on 04 July 2010
Quarter Moons are, as their name suggests, midway points between the more significant New and Full Moon phases; the quarter–to and quarter-past positions on the monthly lunar clock if you like.
Today we stand exactly midway between a full Moon eclipse and a new Moon that is also a total eclipse of the Sun (visible if you’re in the South Pacific or parts of Chile and Argentina). This summer’s rare planetary alignments have already given us an indication of what to expect in the months, indeed years ahead, on the world stage, but an eclipse like next Sunday’s promises more surprises still.
On a personal level it’s unwise to jump to too many conclusions. As I mentioned last week, most of the solar system’s planets are in forward motion (as opposed to their retrograde cycle, when they apparently move backwards), and the challenge now is to keep pace with events, and to use one’s influence wherever possible. Don’t be passive.
Cancer
Lazy hazy days of summer? Probably not right now. Crazy maybe. You have a birthday party to organise, friends to meet and complete strangers to engage in fascinating conversation. Mercury makes it a time for news and communication rather than lying round in the hammock pondering yesteryear. Make the most of your chances, put yourself around.
The Big Issues – and we’re not talking magazines – can not be dodged indefinitely, but until next Sunday’s eclipse is out the way, it’s research and development time for new projects, completion time for jobs in hand. A good week for finding money you didn’t know was available…or for losing what you have in hand. Too good to be true offers are likely just that.
Romance: you’re the one with the chat-up lines.
Leo
An equation that applies to real life Lions – languor versus hunger – may fit you current circumstance. Do you loll in the shade or does circumstance demand you chase down a zebra? Venus in your skies favours the former role, not to mention giving yourself an image shakedown. Saturn in your ‘scope’s cash zone says you can’t max out the credit card a moment longer.
If you have hit a happy balance between the two, congratulations. If you’re single and on the prowl, here’s a splendid week to fall for/attract someone fabulous, charismatic and very likely inappropriate. Like the old song puts it, smoke gets in your eyes.
Virgo
Organised, dependable, astute – so runs the Virgo checklist and with planets arranged in your favour, these are the virtues to pursue. With Mars strong in your skies you can add mobility, cutting away superfluous ‘stuff’ and outworn associations. You will have plenty of time to kick come your birthday, but for now stay busy, network and complete what’s in hand.
Romance: good time to make the first move…or to get irritated by you know who.
Libra
A degree of self-examination, even disquiet, is in order when you are facing fast-changing situations, not least those involving your career. A more ruthless, me-first attitude will certainly be called for under Saturn this autumn, but for now you’re in maintenance mode; salute the company flag, and keep the wheels of industry turning as you figure out your next move.
If relationships are likewise in a what-comes-next phase, there’s no need to force any issues. For once, Libran prevarication has its place. Single? With your planet, Venus, in rapture with Neptune later this week, it’s a fine time to get carried away. Remember you also have to come back.
Scorpio
It’s a time to be on parade, glad-handing and inserting yourself into other people’s affairs (charmingly of course). Communications are key – ensure your Facebook page is fully alive. You’re out of the line of fire for now, so keep your business humming, even from your holiday hideaway on Scorpio Island.
No need for tiffs in your personal life, or at least, no need to turn them into grudge matches. The more you engage with the wider world, the less friction arises.
Sagittarius
In your professional life, tough it out. You don’t get much traction by bucking against the authorities, so don’t be suckered in to displays of defiance. You’re better off as a lone, proudly independent Centaur. The scenario around work and bosses will not be the same come back-to-school time in September.
In your emotional life, by contrast, the situation looks unfolding, exciting and star-struck. Steady on!
Capricorn
Stability is everything to a Capricorn, but this month’s eclipses are more likely to signal a moment when you’re obliged to make changes. The circumstances of the family and/or your partner may be the catalyst for an adjustment – you’re being offered a peak of what’s rumbling down the road in a few months’ time, so you can start planning.
Meanwhile here’s a week to administrate and to push through practical projects with which you have been battling for months. The end of July makes a good deadline for resolution of outstanding business, after which a new cycle in your professional and property affairs opens.
Romance: you’re more likely to be doing the chasing than to be chased.
Aquarius
Barring a fabulous infatuation that has you in its grip, your ‘scope is in anything but single-minded mood. Follow suit and diversify your social circle, polish off work chores (especially the unappealing variety) and attend to all financial affairs that involve a partner/bequest/mortgage and suchlike.
As for that infatuation; with Venus and Neptune mixed up in your affairs, it’s a fine week to have your head turned or, if you’re already smitten, to move things on.
Pisces
Going with the flow is a Piscean speciality, sometimes for the worse (taking the easy option) sometimes for the better (adapting quickly to fresh faces and circumstance). At present, with eclipses flashing and planets moving speedily, flexibility is key, along with accepting that apparently significant others can appear and disappear abruptly. Providing you don’t cling to any pre-conceived notions, or to outworn and oppressive relationships, this promises to be a fruitful, entertaining time. Don’t get tangled up with enemies, concentrate on your own enjoyment and creativity. Feel free to show off.
Aries
Might as well live up to your reputation as a high energy, no-holds-barred sign and go at practical affairs and your social life with equal gusto. Providing you don’t burn yourself out, this is a splendid time to remind the world how forceful and innovative you can be.
The flip side is to accept with good grace the surprises/shocks that come your way. Bear in mind that this part of your year – the summer, basically – doesn’t extend indefinitely, and that a more single-minded approach will be called for later. For now, rave on.
Taurus
Hurry and scurry and behave more like a nosy, restless Gemini than a slow, dependable Bull. Passing encounters and major meetings alike promise pay-off, with Tuesday and Wednesday especially well starred. You move into a more work-oriented phase later in the summer, for now you can mix getting ahead with enjoying yourself. A major career objective comes into intriguing focus later this week, when your planet, Venus, aligns with Neptune, the planet of idealism. Don’t believe everything you’re promised then, stick up for your utopian principles.
Romance: a degree of impatience does your prospects no harm. What are you both waiting for?
Gemini
Keeping peace with the family might be no pushover, especially if you also have the builders in – the old homestead looks pretty rowdy one way or another. Good time to observe the adage about repairing the roof while the Sun is shining.
Socially, the more you quest for new company and new groups of friends the better. Associations you make now promise to return in 2011 – an element of personal gain, whether it’s kudos or actual cash, seems to be involved.
Romance: fine week to be mixed up with a dreamboat; how attainable they are is the question. Enjoy what arrives without going overboard.
