Your Stars 27 June 2010

Posted on 26 June 2010

It’s the first full Moon after the summer solstice – ‘Hay Moon’ by folk saying – and hence a time for delirium, hopefully of the happy kind. The Moon’s power to enchant is celebrated as far back as songs and poems go. Accident and Emergency stations are by anecdote busier at full Moon – statisticians remain at war on this, but the centrality of the lunar cycle in human affairs is not in dispute. Ask any woman.

Yesterday’s full Moon (at 11.30 am GMT) was also a partial eclipse, with the spooky speck of Pluto in the distant background; enough to have astrologers rubbing their chins.

The full Moon-Pluto combination is in Capricorn, sign of the establishment, suggesting a day/month of reckoning/triumph for the Plutocracy. An equally rare alliance of planets in Aries, the sign of fearless youth, suggests a challenge by the young against the authorities.

Since this particular theme is resounded in July, and again in 2011, we’re all being offered a preview of what’s coming down the line over the next couple of years. In the front row are residents of the UK, whose national chart is anchored exactly on the zodiac points now being ‘buzzed’ by the solar system’s elaborate planetary clockwork.

There’s no great slow-down from the full Moon. The solar system is in ‘go’ mode. Go ahead and shoot your shot.

Cancer

The Force is with you alright, but don’t expect a cakewalk. This is the hinge of the year, when the scales fall from your eyes and Your Way Forward becomes dramatically clear.
With a pair of eclipses involved – the first yesterday, the next in a fortnight – big changes are afoot. You might like to start with an overhaul of your personal image or CV – something that presents your life narrative in a refreshed form. A speedy administrative overhaul while Mercury zips through your skies will clear the decks for the sterner challenges a couple of months away.
Romance: it’s odd how sex and money are so intricately linked isn’t it? Come-ons by people who wield power need to be handled warily.

Leo

You’re in a peachy spot for now, when the main thing required is that you live up to your standing as Earl or Countess of your personal manor. Lay on lots of generous Leo bling and let the serfs/the-one-you-have-your eye-on supplicate. The odd pardon to those who have displeased you is also in order.
Don’t imagine this phase can go on forever, but if you play your cards right, you’re good for the rest of the summer, (whether your bank balance holds out is another matter).
Romance: long distance affairs look exciting. So does Monday evening through to Wednesday evening.

Virgo

Whatever happened to the push-over Virgo? You’re in an ideal position to press your case, and cash in on the grand projects of the last three years. Don’t, for heaven’s sake, take your eye off the ball now, just as you’re in the final stretch of a Saturn cycle. Cross out ‘push over’, write in ‘merciless’.
That said it’s a sweet patch for renewing casual and professional ties, for wheeler-dealing and jockeying for advantage.
Romance and partnerships: decide whether you are open for business on Thursday/Friday or would rather fly solo.

Libra

The Sun cresting your solar chart makes this a month to show your mettle to the bosses. You’re under scrutiny, and you look, for now, outgunned. Not the time to turn not sulky or show up late.
A lunar eclipse at the root of your ‘scope meanwhile signals the chance to transform your living situation and stir the family mix differently. Get your head round a long term plan; late summer is prime time to push through changes.
Socially you’re on a roll. If you want to go public with a display of your affection, or simply show off, Tuesday is favoured.

Scorpio

Make hay while the sun shines. Or make love, make common cause, make money, make a trip somewhere special…given a little of your formidable will power, whatever needs to be accomplished can be polished off this month. The main problem you face is thinking that this is a business-as-usual phase, whereas it’s ripe with opportunity for an expansion of your influence. Anything that qualifies as education, training, teaching or public speaking is especially smiled upon.
Romance: lots of opportunities in the mix, with the onus on you to make a move. If you’re waiting on someone who stole your heart this spring, you may have to sit things out a while longer.

Sagittarius

You will be able to wriggle free of the heavy hand of bureaucracy and unsympathetic scrutiny by the boss, but with a pair of demanding planets dominating your career zone, probably not for another month. Grit your teeth and complete the tasks that most bug you. Keep work impersonal. Render Caesar his due and savour the life-affirming, joyous moments that are no-one’s business but yours. To judge by the way your two fellow fire signs are lit up, your social and romantic life is opening up – meet and mingle while you can. Promising weekend ahead for good sports and ardent lovers.

Capricorn

You’re into a pivotal month with a bang, with this very weekend likely to illuminate your future path, or at least make an interesting diary entry. As Pluto is involved, so is getting to the bottom of things. Good time for a purge of goods and chattels. There are more revelations to come before July is out. Take the initiative on long-term plans, especially anything to do with the job/new job. The business end of the year arrives late summer, but you can set things in motion now.
This being the month of your partner sign of Cancer, all one-on-one relationships are up for re-evaluation and a check to see they are still fit for purpose. Achieving intimacy may entail some financial sweetening. Horse trade with partners, be wary around open rivals.

Aquarius

This weekend’s full Moon eclipse emphasises hidden information – a lost treasure map, a murky secret coming to light, a selfless mission you’d prefer not to make public. The Moon’s move into your skies tomorrow afternoon opens two and a half days when you can profitably hog the limelight and put your vision across.
This week is not about the imposition of your plan, however – being an Aquarius you have one of course – but about using your personal touch and staying in open-ended dialogue with associates. It’s also about becoming an administrative whirlwind.
Romance: ever more enchanted, it seems. Jealousy is the viper lurking in that particular garden.

Pisces

Setting boundaries is not Pisces’ speciality, the opposite more like, but three years of Saturn in opposition has ensured you have had do just that. You are currently seeing out a major planetary cycle, so don’t lose focus; over the next month you can bring projects to fruition and refresh Big Partnerships. Stand your ground, but ration your energies, and no account go into humble servant/martyr role (that particular trick is so over).
Single? Or simply in the mood for a gay game of croquet on some rich folk’s lawn? Push your luck, especially Thursday and Friday.

Aries

You’re being offered a sneak preview of your options in 2011. A pair of eclipses makes this a suck-it-and-see month. There are exotic flavours to sample, but it’s hard to make deals stick at a time of such flux. In business and in personal relationships, your antennae and intuition are your best friends. Put your logical mind to use in the service of your beautiful home and your security.
Talking of romance, your horoscope is in a hot, or at least sweet spot. Get dizzy accordingly if you’re in the market for a date. For hitched and unattached alike, the Moon in your skies next Saturday and Sunday makes for a special weekend.

Taurus

It’s a time of flux, perhaps as in the old army slang SNAFU – ‘Situation Normal All Fluxed Up’. There’s a degree of rough and tumble at work in your ‘scope, energy zits and communication dead spots. You have to keep your pedal to the metal regardless, in time with Mars’ march through your solar fifth house – the zone where you win people over by sheer force of personality. Persecute your case until you get the required, or at least adequate, response.
Mars also insists that where romance is concerned, dashing gestures win the day, especially on Thursday and Friday. Good month for rowdy parties too!

Gemini

Another birthday gone, another year older – might as well wear it as a badge of maturity, since your ‘scope demands you show grown-up qualities now and complete whatever jobs and decisions you have been deferring these last few months. Anything involving officialdom, money and property comes top of the must-do list.
By way of compensation there are opportunities for playtime with people who are just as sharp and difficult to pin down as you are…and probably crazier. Proud women and zany men: know anyone who fits that description?

Any musings on this cosmic cross? I can’t get to grip with if it is a good or bad thing…. :)

      @Jane Queen

Well, the world’s stock markets have taken one heck of a pounding over the last ten days. Maybe that’s your answer. These outer-planet transits sprawl across months, and the exact Saturn-Pluto square is not until 21st August, so there’s plenty of time for the doom-mongers’ forecasts to materialise further. As if the biggest maritime disaster in world history isn’t enough doom already!

    Hi Neil,

Thanks so much for your weekly ‘scopes. They’re always a brilliant read.

What does “Mars’ march through your solar fifth house” actually mean for Taureans?

    Best wishes,
    A

And thanks from another obsessive ‘double’ Virgo (Saturn 4th house square; Pluto conjunct ascendent) with a weekly habit…

Awaiting news of a new job application; bored with old routine. All part of Saturn’s last push?

Spot on for this double Virgo (sun and rising sign). Three years to the day I was in Kandahar Afghanistan as an appointed military artist, a one week mission. Since then I have toiled over the most challenging body of work in my career. Your column mirrors my path. Thank you for acting as confirmation ballast during these roller-coaster years.

Re Virgo, please. This ‘final stretch of a Saturn cycle’ – does that apply to all Virgos? Have a memory of being told it related more to late-born ones rather than such as I (30 August).

    • Neil says:

      @jane.wilson
Your memory serves you correctly, late rather than early birthdays, but because i am a Sun sign astrologer, and therefore follow the example of the Greeks and Vedics in using ‘whole sign houses’, I think the point holds true for all Virgos.

  • Mary says:

Oh I like this early sunday morning look at my horoscope. Nice ritual for this virgo. Thanks very much!
